Bio:

Cartoon are an alternative rock, Sydney based band formed in 2011. The band currently consists of lead singer/guitarist/synth, Satsuki Minoda and lead guitarist/producer, Luke Gerber.

With Satsuki's punk inspired lyrics and androgynous vocals and Luke's production of electro music and eccentric arrangements, Cartoon's upcoming album is a mixture of energetic, brooding and cheeky songs drawing inspiration from math rock, progressive rock, punk, pop and electro.

Originally a three-piece band, Cartoon were friends since kindergarten and started busking after school, gaining their reputation in the North Shore as 'the onesie band'. Their animated performance and lively covers attracted attention and enticed crowds of people, particularly families and teenagers. At a one-off busk in Pitt Street Mall, they were founded by Adam Boland, former producer of Weekend Sunrise on Channel 7 and presented Cartoon as 'busking sensations' and were put through 'busking boot camp' where they changed their name and appearance. Glenn A. Baker, an Australian journalist well known for his vast knowledge of rock music, described Satsuki's vocals as a close resemblance to Tracy Chapman and Joan Armatrading.

Through their experience, they were introduced to Erana Clark, releasing a single on iTunes called 'Delphia' (2012) and were officially signed to her label, Meshach Musik (2013). Since the streets, Cartoon have performed at a variety of Sydney venues such as the main room in the Oxford Art Factory and The Spectrum and were the house band for SBS 2's 'Thursday FC'. Whether it be supporting local bands or headlining shows, Cartoon captivated the audience with an outgoing and tight performance and amusing banter. Now an independent band, Cartoon are set to release the album early next year.
